DEADLINE EXTENDED AGAIN!

We are extending the deadline for our campaign again. Now it appears almost certain that ‘Fast Track' will expire on June 30th. This represents a huge defeat for the Administration. In face of tremendous opposition from many sectors (including all of you) they continue trying to move their trade agenda forward. But time is running out for them. It now seems unlikely that any trade bills will be voted on before the July 4th recess, and it is thought that Fast Track will only be brought forward if they have passed at least one pending trade bill. Their traditional moment for sneaking these difficult bills through is in the wee morning hours at the end of July, right before the summer recess (ala DR-CAFTA). Based on this analysis, we are extending the deadline for a month, to July 15th. That will give us enough advance time for placement of the ad if it appears a vote is imminent. Of course we will keep you posted if and when the situation changes.

Erminia Osorio-Perez of Achuapa, Nicaragua grows corn to feed her family, selecting and saving her own seeds. But with Nicaragua and Central America adopting the CAFTA "free" trade pact, her way of life may vanish. In Mexico, the entrance of cheap, subsidized U.S. corn under NAFTA resulted in more than 2 million small corn producers losing their livelihoods in the last 12 years.
